Hey guys,
My question is basically can I add a coolant level sensor and float to a 2.0 Liter that already has the wiring and have it work properly? I got a part number from the local Ford dealer (F5RZ-17B649-A), but when I went on FordPartsOnline.com and searched for it, they said it was the level sensor for the windshield washer fluid sensor. Can this sensor/float be ordered by itself or do you have to buy the entire tank? Has anyone else tried this? Thanks in advance for your .

i believe you have ot buy the whole tank, as the sensor is in the tank itself...but i am not sure on that, ask zetecninja...he'll know.

The coolant bottles are different for cars with or without Aux Warning. Although the tanks are identical, have the same recessed hole for the sensor to fit, the tank you will need is one with a magnetic float inside it. This will then operate a reed switch inside the coolant sensor telling you if & when it gets too low

how about this, I do not have the sensor but the float is in the tank and the wiring is there, does that mean I should ahve the warning light. oh course in the right lighting I can see the symbol on the dash but i don't know if there is a light there

You don't have the light on the cluster. If you did, it would stay on all the time until you connected the wiring harness to the sensor. I tried adding a light to my 97 and that's what happened. Do you think there is already a float in my overflow tank if I don't have the sensor but DO have the harness? How would I find out if I have the float? I guess I'll have to call around to some local junk yards to see if they have a V6 Contour with the sensor. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
