1997 Contour V6 2.5 litre Duratec(Canada). I had PO401 code come up on my code reader.EGR exhaust insufficent flow. Someone suggested DPFE sensor or EGR valve solenoid. Others suggested blocked EGR tube before or after EGR valve. I followed one members advice and removed the throttle body for inspection. Boy! It was gummed up pretty Good. I cleaned it up and all ok.

yes, i still have not got to my 96 contour, V-6, 2.5 engine with the P0401 code, i have changed the egr valve and the sensor, but did not do the clean up on the throttle plate yet, send them to dbird@sprynet.com or at least let me know where they can be located..

I had the alumiumn DPFE on my 98 Duratec and just replaced it a month ago with the plastic one. Hope it holds up better?
This is one of many pain in the butt OBD II items, trying to troubleshoot. Intermitent and at one time I had P 0401 & 0402 at the same time too little and too much.
Do you have to be registered to access all areas of the Standard Site?

Hey, thanks Garry and GeoPappas for sharing that info. My CEL keeps going on and off, seemingly whenever it wants, with that code. Hopefully I can try to get that cleaned up soon.
