ive just recently had this problem happen. its nothing engine or tranny wise. my back doors on my 95 gl zetec wont open from either side ( inside or outside) back driver and back passenger sides. right now im making people crawl over the front seat to get to the back and this is becoming hard on my head rest specially since the people are my roommates friends and there kinda big. i was wondering if anyone has had this problem, or know of a way i can get it open. or if you can accomplish this with a slim jim. im open to any suggestions. im about to cut into the panel itself and ripp it out and then spend the money to replace the panel.

its all electronic, the door locks windows, everything. and all the electrical componets work i think its just the door latch.

Not good news. My car was like that when I went to buy it (Left Rear Door wouldn't open). The latch was disconnected from the operating rod. The dealer had to break the door panel to get into the door. Took 4 weeks to get the panel. I hadn't purchased the car yet, so I lucked out that way.

The screws to get the panel off are covered by the door jamb. Unless someone else has removed the panels without breaking the door panel and can tell you how, you will have to do some surgery.

Is the car under Warranty?

no the contour is not under warranty, i just thought of something else i can try. were the wiring for the back door comes out of the back door there is a rubber gommet blocking it off if i pry it out i can see the latch from the hole do you think if i could find a long enough rod that would fit you think it could open from there. or do you think if i can get the speakers out of the door do you think that would work. oh and incidentally where can i find some new seat belts for my back seat i just noticed the ones behind the driver seat is missing.

go to an auto repair or stereo place, or even a car wash..they can usually break into people's cars fairly easily..ask them to give it a whack.
