Without any codes to look at, I'm guessing a vacuum leak or bad IAC valve...

The transmission code and AC compressor could both be involved. If the tranny doesn't downshift right when coming to a stop it can cause a stall. An AC compressor beginning to lock up can cause it too. You can test this one out by removing the belt and going back and fourth in the driveway or by simply replacing the belt with a non-AC spec belt and bypass the compressor.

If the car idles fine, it may still be transmission related. The car may still upshift fine, that would be totally unrelated. As for bypassing the AC, there's a belt listed for it right on the under hood area on the car!!! Quick, find a better mechanic!

What kinda hose cracked? Was it a A/C hose or something else? mine has the same problem, after initially stopping the car seems like its gunna stall. sometimes i put the car in neutral, when i go to put it back in drive, the car will stall out, and the dash lights will come on. other times when coming to an abrupt stop (old people) the cars rpms will stay up then shoot down real fast and sometimes stall. couple weeks ago the car was stuck and kept accelerating , almost ran into my garage door. i dunno what it is, i used my dads obd ii scanner from work, no codes..

My '98 SVT has a similar problem -- sort of.
Stalling on deceleration happens occasionally. But when it happens, it happens with no warning. I'd be really bummed if it happened when doing something like making a precisely-timed left turn across the path of an oncoming SUV. And anyone riding shotgun would probably never speak to me or anyone else ever again.
Other than always happening when decelerating, there's no other pattern to it. No CEL, no erratic RPM, no A/C in use, no other nothing. It just dies -- and then restarts as soon as I crank it.
In case the question comes up, the only mod I've made is really minor: a K&G Filtercharger, installed about 6 months ago. And the stall problem was happening before that. The air filter is not on the list of suspects.
Any ideas, anyone?
