What's up everyone, I was just wondering about everyones opinion on what would be good tire to put on the stock 16's. The car is a daily driver that like to hit the twisties and will do occasional track events. I like the way the KDW's performed. Also do different sizes make a difference. I have seen people post that they use 225's versus the 215's. What do all of you think will give me the best performance. Thanks a lot.

A lot of choices out there. Just depends on how much you want to spend. I loved my KDWs. Great grip wet or dry. They sounded cool too. Well, until they started getting worn. Gave me a major migraine. I've got the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s right now. Not great but they have awesome treadwear which is what i wanted. I think when I go for some sticky tires I'll go with S-03s. Great tires and they're known to reduce braking distance too.

Well as much as people bash the Falkens, I would have to go against that and say that the Falken Ziex 512s are an awesome tire... I haven't driven the car yet with the 3.0L but on basically stock terms (Bassani and K&N), I would need to launch at almost 4k rpms to get it to have a decent enough of a spin for the car to not bog down... Im a huge fan of them and that's why this is my second set... Depending on how well they work with the 3.0L with a quaive, I'll probably get another set... Im currently running 225/45/16's on stock E1's on my 2000 SVT... Love em'

I'd suggest doing some research on tirerack.com. That's how I made my decision.

There are lots of good choices. Spend an hour surfing and I'm sure you'll come away with all the info you need.

Got me a set of Firestone SZ EP's. They sure sound and feel better than the old KDW's. They have great grip and are a bit smoother than KDW's. They tend to pick up small gravel in areas where rain has washed it out on road...the KDW's did less of that. So far, after 1,000 miles they sound good and track straight.

I got a full drive out price (tire, installation, balance, old tire disposal, and sales tax)from Firestone store for $547. It turned out being cheaper than just the tire cost from tirerack (excluding shipping).

Firestone tried to give me a "complimentary alignment check". I turned them down. I'm old enough to know that Firestone or GoodYear stores don't give things away. They just get you in position for a good old fashioned screwing.

You should have seen the mountain of brake rotors they had behind the store.! The story is the same: Offer the customer the Brake Special and then whack them up for new rotors or drums. Or - Offer them a $49 Special Tune Up and then poke them in the rear for about $168.00 of other items that are needed.

So, anyone, did I get screwed on the Firestone Firehawk SZ EP's (225-50-16 Z rated tires? It was lots of money, but in today's rain they were great. They handle superb. And they are relatively quiet. I see why Corvette owners like them so much.
