Ok so my 2.5L 99 tossed both post cat bolts and gasket at the flang. Only problem, exhaust shop wants 80 bucks to fix it, and Murray's, Napa, and the Dealer all show NO gasket for a tour past 98. Can this be right? From the forums search most of you just reused the old gasket when doing cat backs, So i'm baffled, Or the lack there of. (Bad Pun) So can anyone tell me if this part number is right for a 99 2.5L non svt tour? F5RZ-5E241-A It's the gasket from a 96. Or should I just hit ramchargers and get some gasket material and cut my own. Thanks, Ray

I don't have any idea if that is the right part number, but I picked up a new gasket for 3.99 at the ford dealership in my town.

Hmmm Mine cost 7.99. I think I'll run to ramchargers on lunch tomorrow. One last question. Do you have to use those spring bolts again? The dealer had yet again no documentation of them and both are gone now. Would just two bolts from Home Depot work? Not sure on heat requirements, use to deciding between grade 5 and 8 on jeeps Thanks again, Ray

teh grades of the bolts only indicate their grade of heat treat. The higher the grade the higher the tinsle strength of the bolt. Due to the high operating temperature of exhaust the heat treat qualities would likely be diminished due to the constant heat/cool cycles.
I'd just buy the lesser expensive of the bolts that fits. A grade 5 will be fine.

NAPA carries a real nice exhaust gasket with a metal o-ring. Its thicker than the Ford "Foil" one. I've used them when ever I've change cat-backs. Nothing worse than an exhaust leak right there..
Just take your old one down there, and they'll pull a couple and match one up. $3.99 as I remember..

Ahh no there inlies the problem. Old one is gone. So the dealer gave me this one from a 96. I'd imagine it hasn't changed but you never know. It is def a piece of foil. With a machined lip on the inside that looks to be crushed when you bolt the flang together. I'll see what Ramchargers has.
And looks like no one reuses the spring bolts so looks safe to just bolt it in.
Thanks, Ray

Well grabbed some mr gasket from ramchargers. Went over to a friends with a lift and after like 3 hours had a really quite tour. Quiter than it had ever been before. So I think it's been leaking ever since I got it, and it finaly got bad enough to annoy me. Ended up using some left over bolts, after drilling out the old one. FYI that part number has the correct OD but the ID is WAY bigger than it should be. From the looks of it the old gasket is a stack of like 3 of these foil things but diff ID on them.
Thanks for those who offered input, Ray
