I just bought my Tour in January, a '98 SE, MTX with only 16,000 miles, of course I love it. I have two questions for the more experienced CEGr's. One is it normal for the Firestone Firehawk tires to be bald after 16,000 miles? Two, the car has thrown a cel twice this week, the only mods I have done are the throttle hang fix and a BAT cone intake, the cels clear if I disconnect the battery. Any ideas?

The CEL typically indicates a fault that will result in increased emmisions due to the engine not running as efficiently as the computer thinks it should. The mods you mentioned are harmless and shouldn't cause any problems, unless one of the hoses or electrical connectors around the intake area is loose/disconnected. To further diagnose, you really need the fault code from the computer. (Dealer or garage, or a friendly Autozone) My Firehawks lasted about 35K miles.

Welcome to CEG! wink

Thanks for the input, I was thinking it might have to do with the relocation of the IAT it doesn't seem to really fit well in the hole that the BAT kit freed up.

The IAT position should not cause a CEL. If the BAT relocation kit creates an air or vacuum leak (because or the loose fit) between the MAF and TB, that could cause a CEL.

Thats what I was thinking, I'll have to do some more investigating after the race this weekend.
