I am installing a monster tach on a SVT and am trying to locate the tach signal wire. I looked at past write ups on this and all the ones I have found say It is a white with black tracer coming out of a green harness under the dash. I found a green harness in mine but not white wire with black tracer. I need to know where someone with a SVT got thier signal from. Thanks in advance.

You said a yellow harness? Is it under the dash and what color wire is the tach lead?

to each their own, but i have truly never understood the purpose of having 2 tach's.....i see older camaros and some older stangs that will have monster tachs on the dash or console....why??
see which needle climbs faster!?

Factory tachs are pretty slow and not in the feild of sight for racing. My car hits the 7500 rpm redline when my factory tach is only reading 6-6500 rpm in first and second gear. Of course I have a bit more power than most I have thought of installing one, but I can deal with the factory one for the time being. If I ever get into seriously racing this car, I will probably get one. The occasional jaunt to the dragstrip that I do now, doesn't warrant it.

For some people it beats having to take there eyes off the road and look to see where they have to shift....but if you cant tell when you have to shift by the sound of the car...then maybe you should't be driving....Also the sotck tachs are just as acurate if not more accurate than the aftermarket ones....But i guess to each his own.
Good Luck with the install.

False, Everyone that I know of that installed one because the Ford one seemed "slow" ended up remoing them because the realized that they weren't slow. That is just how the engine is. All got identical readings fromt the factory and aftermarket tach. Get a shift light and set it at the optimal shift point for racing. Otherwise why do you really need the tach? Nice to have, but not worth being in your line of site.
