Hi guys!
I know on a Mustang the TPS can be adjusted. Can it on a Contour? If so, what wires do I check it at and what is a good voltage to shoot for?

Thanks, Matt.

the only way to adjust the stock tp is to adjust the base air flow... shoot for between .91 and 1.03 volts...

Thanks for the reply, but I'm still kinda confused.... What does "adjust the base air flow" mean? What wires (color) to check the voltage at?

Thanks, Matt.

According to the Ford TSP, TPS voltage is as follows:

KOEO (key on engine off): .53 - 1.27
Hot Idle: .53 - 1.27
30 MPH: 1.0 - 1.3
55 MPH: 1.1 - 1.4

There is a also graph that shows TPS varying between .65 volts (at idle) and 4.538 volts (at WOT).

PCM tunes this out over time - don't bother.

Exactly!

Not only that but it will throw also throw a CEL if the voltage is over 1.0v at closed throttle.

This trick is "suppose" to give you better throttle response as the TPS reaches WOT sooner. What a crock of crap in the first place!
You are talking about a change of maybe 1 tenth of a volt (TPS reads around .9v at closed throttle)
The TPS reacts much quicker then pushing your foot to the floor anyway.

The TPS ONLY is an indication to the PCM of the position of the throttle plate. It has nothing to do with nor is changed by incoming airflow!

Base TPS voltage is just used by the PCM to indicated closed throttle. It's learned at startup.

So, trying to adjust the TPS voltage is a waist of time?

Thanks, Matt.
