Yes I do disagree with that statement too. With 4K in the WRX and 4K in the Neon the neon will still win! WAKE UP! I'd hazard to guess Dodge knows more about turbos then Subaru. Dodge has made millions of turbo'd cars since the early 80's. Hell, all the guy in the SRT-4 has to do is buy a stage 3 kit that will put 300hp on the ground for him. The only race the WRX is going to win is the race to the 150ft mark.

Now back to your 300hp or "close to". So your definition of "close to" is about 92%. So I could say my 15.4 is "close to" a 14.2? What are you thinking? Remeber, it will take the WRX a whole lot more chp to beat the Neon since the AWD system is eating up, NO LESS THEN, 26% of its horsepower unlike the Neon's FWD system that is only losing 15-17% (this is an estimation since the Neon stock is dynoing at 220whp).

I never said the SRT-4 wouldn't win a race if $4k was invested in both cars. Someone stated they heard there was that much into the WRX only. I completely agree with $4k in both cars the SRT-4 would eat up the WRX, along with most other cars for all that matter. And yes, I think 92% is "close to" when we're talking about horsepower in the high 200's. Your quarter mile time is something completely different, you know that. In reality, I don't really care all that much. I watched the video, enjoyed it....and actually I'd pick the SRT-4 to drive around any day over the WRX, so I'm not even partial to the WRX over the SRT-4. I understand what you're saying though. Next time I'll choose my words more wisely.

Hey Qbert don't short change the SRT-4, it made 223 hp on the dyno LOL! As far as it being "fugly", the rear of the car doesn't look that bad, since thats what most of us will be seeing anyways and with any mods done to it...."can someone pass me the binouculars?"

It is a bit sad to say but the Neon SRT is THE new bang for buck champion. It makes stock about 223 FWHP which is about 270 HP crank and weighs 2850 lbs...far superior to the WRX (165 WHP and 3100 lbs). No doubt the neon will get off the line slower but then it will run down and kill WRX. It runs 0-120MPH in 20.0 sec..for reference, the 28K Mach 1 with 305 HP hits 120 in 19.5 sec (both tested same issue C&D). The Neon was with .1-.3 sec behind the Mach 1 all the way to 150!! With the only real bang for buck competitor (a stripped LS-1 Camero) gone...Neon gets the crown. Furthermore it stops hard (165 ft 70-0..brakes are as big as CSVT with 180 less lbs) and handles pretty well but no ACR (heavier with softer suspension & 6.0 inch wheels/205 cross section). You can argue about Neons looks and quality (both leave alot to be desired)but power...is pretty much a fact.

It is, but it's a Red SRT-4, not the same video of the 3 people in the yellow one that races a Talon afterward.

So far, I haven't seen a vid of a WRX winning. Can we please see one of those? I know it's do-able.

YEP! You're right, that is why they are such great rally cars. Teams don't have to spend more then $1000 to get them setup to run. Man, if only I would have bought one I could have put 4-5K into it and been running 6's down the drag strip!

GET REAL!

So if I take the logic being used here and apply it to my SE Contour...

Does this mean that if I spend around a grand on new rims, that I'll roll about 250 hp? Maybe three grand on an airfilter will give me 375? Will I be able to dust an SRT then?

You people with "these facts are correct in my world!" attitudes really need a few lessons on cars. They consist of just a few more things than seats and wheels!!

I'd take the wrx myself, its just such a universal car. Good friend of mine owns one and he autox's, drags it, and rally crosses it. Not to mention its a great car for the winters here in buffalo for obvious reasons.

looks like the WRX was no match for the SRT4

hmmm

if they weren't so ugly I'd go buy one.

maybe if I got limo tint so no one would see me in a Dodge Neon.

My girlfriend wouldn't eve think of stepping in one even if it did do
the 1/4 in 5 seconds..
