I am going to buy a 3L shortblock. Already have the headers, Quaife etc.

Do anyone have any good leads on new shortblocks from Ford? I've been getting price quotes around $1400 from dealers, quite a bit higher that the $900 ish prices I've seen on the forums.

Price was the same for 99-2001 shortblocks.

Thanks!

Well, last I checked the price was around $1250 and up for a new shortblock. I think the price jumped on them about a year ago. If you are in need of a fully prepped shortblock, drop me a PM and I can give you a price quote.

Thanks,
Rick

I was at the dealer today for some other parts and inquired about 3L shortblock prices. The 99's list for $1670 or something right around there. I wasn't SO worried about it because I get 25% off all parts. But, they also show NR (Not Replaced) which means you can't get them from the dealer anymore, not even reman from what my parts guy was saying. So I had him look up a 2000. Listed for like $1150 or so but was also same part number as 2001. For some reason, did they change the 2000's late in the year and put the water pump on the front or is the matching part numbers coincidence? Should I be worried about this or should I go ahead and order the 2000 anyway. I'm curious because I'm getting ready to have my 2.5 heads done up and don't want to get them back, order the short block, and end up having to order an electric water pump.

Rick, If you could help, it would REALLY be appreciated!!

Even if you go with an 01 or newer shortblock it won't have any effect on the heads you use. You should be safe using the 01 shortblock assembly.

I'm just concerned with the water pump location. I don't want to have to use an electric water pump if I don't have to.

Waterpump has nothing to do with the block itself, it's the heads that matters.
