Wowzers, 52 hours??? Did they only use one adjustable wrench to install the whole kit or something? Having never seen a Vortech Contour kit before, the kit took me 26 hours on a set of ramps with no air tools!!! Same kit could be completed in much less time after having a part in three installs...

This shop will most surely lose the vortech dealership rights, And stazi, I had no choice but to drive it, when the install cost more than the supercharger i ran into a monetary problem. believe me the shop will pay in the end. My lawyers write the damn barr exam.

Well I hope it works out for you.
Right now my car is sitting there in the garage cos the chip isn't 100%, and I am not risking it till I get the write program!

My father and myself installed mine in 20 hours total. Two of those were spent trying to rig up ways of getting at my rear o2 sensor that needed replacing. Now that I've done it once, I could probably do it in that time by myself! I can't imagine what that shop was doing the whole time.

I know, If i could have done it all over again knowing what I know now I could have bought a fully loaded toolbox and everything. Mabey in the end I'll get my tool box. I'm just not gonna let this happen, granted I knew it was gonna happen but I didn't expect it this soon. Within a month my new mechanic was going to straightin it up because he is doing the install on my trannie work. Time wasn't on my side here and now I have to get vicious. I'm not one to worry about these things, I have to much going on in my life at the moment to devote 100% on this resolve, but even with 50% and the team of people on my side this situation may get solved to my advantage.

I spent 24 on my first install, and 12 on the 2nd time around. I probably could hammer it out in 8hrs, but I wouldn't want to try to do it that quick to avoid costly mistakes. -Mark

Agreed Mark, 8 hours would be a quick install. The biggest help to a quick installation is knowing what you can and can't pre-assemble, or at least partially assemble while still driving the car to spread out the installation process over more time if need be. Heck, laying the parts out and counting them all ahead of time would have saved me 2.5 hours of fabrication and running to the local Home Depot to make a spacer they left out. DOH!!! Then there's the hour to pull the fuel pump because the factory Vortech fuel line connections were leaking. DOH!!! DOH!!!

My install took about 25 hrs and I knew very little beyond basic repair/maintenance of engines. Installing it helped me learn alot and become more confident.
Sorry to hear about your compressor going. I know my heart would sink if I ever heard that. The 25,000+ report made me feel better though, and it definately sounds like your shop employs less-than-average mechanics. Hope everything works out for you, I've got 5,000+ and it's still going strong.
As a side note, the manual also says allow car to idle until it reaches full normal operating temperature. I force myself to wait till at least 1/4 temp and don't get on it till it's at full operating temp. I'm not saying this caused it, but it helps to have the oil circulated and everything at the right temp before you put stress on it (hammer the accelerator).
