I have a 98 SVT Contour. I just installed a VDO 80 PSI elec. gauge in the a pillar and 80 psi elec. sender in the head (behind the throttle plate). I am getting readings of 75-80 PSI During startup with no decrease in pressure. (I also have a small leak from around the sender)
I am using 10-40 Mobil 1 (3000 miles on oil), a Fram Extraguard filter. What should the PSI be (I am assuming it should be around 30-45)?

I jumped the gun, I am now reading about 20 PSI at idle and around 50 at 2000 + RPMs. I still have the leak, any suggestions as to what to use to sop it. I've got a leak that has a rate of 1 drop, every 15 seconds.

Hardware sells teflon tape for $1-2.

Why are you using 10W-40??? 5W-30 is the recommended oil in our engines, 0W-30 if it gets really cold.

Well, I tried the teflon tape, but I began to leak about 15 minutes into the drive. Should I remove, rewrap, or should I try a different adapter?

Did you double wrap the threads? Are you sure that your sender is leaking and it's not from something else? Did you clean the oil spillage up before wrapping the threads?

Yes, actually, I wrapped the threads probably 4 times, cleaned the threads on the sender and the head, and cleaned all of the oil around the leak. The engine is immaculate, this is the only source of moisture on the whole setup. The weather is starting to turn, so I am retiring for the evening.
I'll try a little black RTV on the threads tomorrow morning. Thanks everybody!!

I have permatex hightemp Black RTV that I'll use. As for the oil, I usually use 5-30 and a K&N, but I got a box of 10-40 Mobil 1 and the filter for Christmas.
