What pressure should I read at a guage on the fuel rail first thing in the morning with the car turned on but not started? I'm at about 12psi. Once I start the car it goes up to 33.5 where it belongs.

Try flipping the key on/off a few times before starting the car (and taking a reading) to see if the fuel pump builds pressure.

Interesting. I had my wife turn the key on and I watched the guage. The first time she did ti, it went up to 12# and just stayed there, so I had her turn the car off and do it again. The second time it went up to 34#. Why would it not do it the first time but it would the second time. What does this mean?

Your PCM stops the Pump from running if the engine is not running.
The pressure release valve only releases pressure, when there is a vacuum present.

So does mie sound like its OK?
