A few days after I bought my car I noticed it had some orange-ish stains on the roof liner near the rubber trim on the sides. I'm guessing it is some sort of stain from the adheisive. Anyway, the dealership says since I didn't say anything when I bought the car they aren't responsible to fix it. Also, the rubber trim is peeling up in a few small areas. It is like this from the factory, I just never think about it until a passenger inevitibly looks up and says "What are those orange stains? How come the rubber trim is coming up? Isn't this a new car?" I tell them it's a special SVT option apparently. But seriously, does anyone else have this? Can I remove the stains? Is that rubber trim covered under warrenty?

In my experience, any stains on the head liner are usually there to stay as it is difficult to clean. the material used in headliners typically do not stand up to much abuse,i.e. cleaning, rubbing things of that nature.
On the other hand, I know that there is a member that is a detailer on these pages, can't recall their SN though. Maybe they'll drop by this thread.

Well, I have worked at a dealership for quite a few years as a Detailer, among other positions...and from my experience when we have something like this come up, I would take a scrup brush and some, first, Velour and upholstry cleaner and try to remove it that way... if that failed I would try to use something a little more harsh to try and dissolve it , like adhesive and label solvent.. and a scrub brush.. if that failed, I would tell the salesman to cover it under warranty to get a new headliner.. And believe me form my experience... Make a BIG ENUF fuss about it.....and YOU'LL GET IT.... IF it was a NEW Car..

I was a detailer for 2 years at a Chrysler dealership and we got a couple of Contiques in. First to start the Contour headliner is a weak material, so take a scrub brush could do some damage. Second, if you soak the headliner in something, you can run the risk of seperating the upolstery from the padding. Not dissing you 94 Probe GT, but experience was my teacher.

After I learned, I started using Pro-Sol, Mineral Spirits, or somethng like it and I put some(not a lot) on a cloth towel and lightly rubbed on it. This always worked for me.

Well, experience was my teacher also as I detailed at a FORD, DODGE, KIA, and Nissan dealer(Largest Dealer in Pennsylvania) for 3 years.... A scrub brush has NEVER hurt a headliner unless your a Mad Man with it..
