Hellow contique owners, i did a search on this problem and i couldnt find a result. please help on what you think it could be. I'm no expert when talking about engine
I had my duratec replaced to a newer year (prob 96 or 97) and now im confused with different diagnosis people are telling me. The guy who did the swap(friend of mine doing 1st time kind of job in a 95 duratec) said i just need to " reprogram " the chip. Ford guys are telling me to use the old chip/computer from whatever car i got this engine from and put in my car. They said theres no such " re-program " to the factory chip.
Engine is acting funny. Kind of loss of power.

When you first start, it idles at high rpm(2200) then it gradually goes down and stays normal(750rpm). Then after putting on " reverse " or " drive ", when you accelerate, the engine almost stalls. (drop rpm to somewhere 200~300rpm. Will do this randomly until the engine is a little warmer, like 2-3 minutes later). only happens when i accelerate, so after i gain speed it wont drop rpm.
Also when i am driving if i try to accelerate harder, it won't perform 100%(will gain speed slowly - or sometimes will boost up like it should).
I took it back to my friend and he checked all the connections to assure there was no leaking and it's all good. He is saying the whole problem is related to the chip.
Talk to the guy who did engine swap and see what he did to deal with the computer type difference between engines. Any CELs?
