Hey there everyone im new here and jsut wanted to say hi

i have a 99 zx2 with a zetec vct engine so most of my time would be spent in this forum

i am aware that there are zx2 forums and am part of them but am kinda interested in what goes on with other cars that bear the zetec name.


i did notice that in the other forums i've been to no one ever has the pots mod on their car. i know it give us zx2ners the edge

any ways jsut thought i'd say hi

POTS mod? Is that the resistor inline w/ the IAT? If so, tried it (on the dyno, even); didn't do anything for me.

it is adding a resisitor inline but its a varible resistor so your not running around all the time with it on. you get a pot switch (like a volume control) and it allow you to change it. from what i've heard you keep turning until your engine raises the idle about 300 rpm or your engine starts to ping (then you turn it down abit)

it only give about 5 hp peek power but does give you enough ooomf.

do the zetec in the contours have vct? from what i had read sounded like some had and some didn't

Ah...I didn't use a variable resistor.

Yeah, some 'tours have VCT. I think '98 was the only year, but '99 may have had a few.

its a cheap mod if it works its cool if not its no big loss, i haven't tried it as its colder than a witches titty outside, i'll try it in the spring

Hmmmm, tell me more about this pots mod...I have heard of it but i am too lazy to search ...Are there and downfalls to this mod? Just curious, i need all the power i can get...

there would be the down fall of using premium gas? its just adding a varible resistor

it gives small gains but enough

remember more is always better

its really funny that no not many people know about it if you went to the teamzx2 forum that'd be the first thing they'd say. all the resistor does is fool the computer into thinking the air is colder and therefore more dense, more dense means more air per cubic foot requiring more fuel, so the computer tells the injectors to put more fuel though richening your mixture, it like jetting a carb

it works pretty good. the difference between this mod and jsut adding a resistor is that its varible, and it can be turned off.

Thats confusing....is it easier to do it than the directions make it out to be ....D you said you did it....how did you do it?

is that the same mod that they're selling on ebay for like $5?
