You all saw my posting about the missing my '95 Contour is doing after the water hose broke. It wasn't plug wires, it wasn't the cracked wires on the #1 injector... It probebly is a just a coincidence that it started at the same time that the hose popped.... FUEL FILTER!
If you recall I said that it misses under a load (acceleration.) It idles fine and also runs OK once up to speed. Fuel starvation due to an original fuel filter with 170K on it? Couldn't hurt!
So, exactly where is the fuel filter? The computer at AutoZone said under the car beneath the driver's seat area... is there a compartment? It isn't visible.

Do a search on the Fuel Filter. There's a How-To for it. I plan on doing it next week.

I wrote this a while back, maybe it should be a how-to: Get the back of the car up on ramps. Open the hood and pull fuse #14 (should be a 15A fuse)
Try to start the car. It should run for less than 5 seconds then die out. If it keeps running, you got the wrong fuse. This will release the fuel pressure.
Look for the filter as Slim Shady described. You'll probably want a catch pan like one you would use for changing oil.
First loosen the worm gear clamp that is holding the filter in place.
Next, carefully remove the plastic clips that hold the fuel lines to each end of the filter.
Before removing the filter, note the direction of flow. There should be an arrow on the filter.
Carefully pull the fuel lines off the old filter.
Pull the old filter out of the clamp.
Insert the new filter taking care to orient the filter flow in the same fashion as the filter you removed.
Reconnect the lines using either new clips or the old ones if your filter did not come with replacement clips (my Purolator filter did not have new clips)
Tighten the worm clamp.
Clean up!
Replace fuse.
Turn on key and wait a moment, this will build fuel pressure.
Crank car, it may take a few moments until fuel pressure has been restored.

I would actually turn the key on and off 2-3 times to build the pressure in the system. You should hear fuel pump running. (TB would definitely say: if it's not running you replaced wrong fuse ). if you don't build enough pressure you might experience CE light which will take care of itself after some time.
