just want to know if anyone owns a v6 atx with a superchip on it. Is it worth the money, any noticeable differences?

big difference for the atx, mainly for the shift improvments, higher redline, and for the secondaries to open earlier.
would be even better to get a chip custom burnt after you do the rest of your mods, or else you will be shipping it back later for a custom burn.
either way well worth the money on an atx

the superchip helps out in its shifting points fairly noticiably in the atx's. i'd say get it for that main reason. obviously, there are other reasons to get it as well.....

Okay, this is my first post here. But a superchip takes out the speed limiter, right? Anyone know who fast a Contour will get up to without the limiter?

Not always. Depends on the code, and whether the chip guys could find the right bit, or whatever.
Function before fashion.

At least with my code (BLC1) there is a REAL big difference. I had a problem recently with the chip making my car stall. I contacted Superchips and they replaced it for free, along with reprogramming it for my latest mods for free. I had it since 4/00 and the tech at Superchips made it sound like that was an awful long time to have a Superchip, but anyway, I only had to pay for shipping. In the mean time, I never realized how awful the car shifted without it (ATX). The chip REALLY firms up the shift points, at least with my code. If you can't have a manual like me (my car is an emergency response vehicle and a manual isn't recommended) and have to settle for an ATX, it's WELL worth it. It's pretty cool to watch the needle wrap around to 7,000 rpm in first gear (just don't do that ALL the time or you won't have your 'tour very long!) Good luck with the chip if you do decide to get one.

Also, SDMF, to answer your question about the limiter, for most applications it does remove it. My code comes "standard" with the limiter removed. Two years ago, I was able to "open it up" fully on a closed track and my GPS unit showed 131.26 mph at max. You can't get much more accurate than a good GPS unit. I don't know if it had more or not, but I suppose that's about it since the gearing and drive ratios are different from the 143 mph SVT. I'm sure a non-SVT manual could very well see 140 or better with the right mods.

There are no gearing or drive ratio differences in the SVT. The higher top speed is entirely due to more hp.
