Aren't the sensors themselves expensive as hell?

my father payed around $100 for the O2 sensor for his 95. I think they might be a bit more then that but I think the parts guy gives him a discount. since we have five different cars we buy parts for they know my father at the dealer he goes to

Cool, thanks Brian.

Not as bad as I'd figured, but, still, I have to wait at least a month to get it (only get paid once a month). **sigh**

Bosch Universal O2 sensor....78 bucks at Autozone.
As long as you can cut a few wires and splice...you're golden.

don't forget that we only have one on our cars, well maybe two, I am not sure. you can see the one that is located on the cat so that shouldn't be hard at all to get to

if everyone wants to take note, my father tryed guessing what O2 sensor went bad by reading the plugs. To him the back ones look fine and the from ones where running lean I think. Well when I pulled the code I found out it was the back one that was "slow switching" or something like that meaning that the sensor was dying, so of course the codes hold true and tell all

I am in shock!!!!

I took my car in today and told them about the 420 and 430 and they said they would diagnose it and give me a call. I diagnosed the car myself on Saturday with my OBD2 software, so I already knew it was the cats. I did this in case they tried to pull something funny (Change O2 sensors etc.) Well, 1 1/2 hours after I dropped it off I received a call. "We have ordered your cats, come by and pick up your car and we will give you a call when they are in."

I was expecting the worse.... and it turned out the way I wanted.

PS> Diagnosing P0420 is cool. I ran all sorts of tests on my laptop this weekend.

I thought to ask you the other day if you figured out how to finally use the software, but I never got around to asking.

Mike, when you had your cats changed did they charge you for a diagnostic or was that covered as well. I can't remember if you were covered under an extended warranty or not.
