I heard from another site that there was a recall of some type for contours with a dash warping problem? Basically it sounded as if the front part of the dash closest to windshield would pop up over time. I'm wondering if I should have this recall done. I'm not showing any problem signs now but I intend to hold onto this SVT for some time and woulnd't want this problem appearing after the warranty expires.

Anyone else familiar with this issue? Thanks...

You have until, I believe, August of this year to have it done. If your not showing ay signs of warpage, if they do anything, they will use a repair kit on it. Im not sure if the recall affects SVT's, but dont take my word on that, check it out for yourself at a dealer you trust... -Nick

Yes the recall involves the SVT's as well. My entire dash was replaced. Mine was a 2000 model. The new dash is made with a different material and is much nicer. Ive heard the stories of people not having good luck at there dealers and having problems after the replacement. My dealer is great and I have had no problems whatsoever. Good luck. smile

SVT's are indeed included in the service bulletin. My dash was replaced by the dealer, and four months later when it warped again they used the repair kit. This week will be about three months since they last fixed it, and guess what? Time for another repair or a new dash. God I love these cars

Mine doesn't seem to be getting any worse after the replacement, but I swear they just replaced it with someone else's. This being due to the fact that the left hand side of the dash pops up and hides the black strip near the bottom of the windshield + they first told me they'd have to order one and then called back later the same day and said they actually had one in stock... weird if ya ask me.

At least the bubbles aren't coming back (yet).

Do you think the noise that I have on my dash will be easy to repair or will they have to pull my dash off again.

The dash recall is only on 99 and 00 models so the 98 SVT's would not be involved.

My dealership replaced the entire dash..not some glue fix crap.. It looks higher quality where the dash meets the windshield as compared to before.

I recently had my dash replaced. No problems. There is a black strip at the brow where the dash meets the window...which is new. It looks like this new trim piece will help keep the dash tight to the window and prevent it from rolling up. No rattles...yet.
