my air bag light is blinking. How do i get it to stop? do i have to take it to the dealer, or is it something i can do myself?

I don't recommend doing it yourself since the system involves explosives and is a safety related system. You should take it in to your dealer.

Airbag is under warranty for 50,000 miles. There is a recall to rewire and change some parts. Also search forums for information about broken seals and retained water causing airbag light to blink. When the light is on the airbag is disabled. eek

I am pretty sure that the pattern indicates a particular trouble code. Like: one blink, pause, four blinks would be 14. Something like that. The dealer can pull the code from the airbag module for you.

One of the more common causes of an air bag light is a weak battery that is about to fail. One of the codes is for low voltage. I don't remember the code. You may want to have your battery checked.

According the the module spec, the air bag module won't log a code for low voltage until it drops below 9V. Also, it indicates that it does not flash the light for low voltage.

Granted, this is the spec. I cannot say how well this module follows its own spec. :rolleyes:
