Yet another newbie question: My 96 Zetec has a factory rating of 120 hp. The Focus as a rating of 130. Can someone explain the difference, if both are 2.0 liter Zetecs?

the 96 was rated for 125hp
the differance is the intake changes ford did in 98 which is when the Zetec weather it be in the contour or the ZX2 became rated 130hp and when the focus came to be in 2000 it also used the 130hp version without the VCT that is on the ZX2 and 98+ contours

MORE NEWBIE QUESTIONS:
What is a VCT?
Can on ereally expect any REAL WORLD gains with just an exhaust and intake mod? Everybody is so enamoured with the CTA intake. Is it THAT much better than KKM or OBX? What kind of horsepower increases can be expected? Since we are taking about intakes (as well as exhausts), will any of these mods help improve fuel effieciency?

THanks

VCT is varieable cam timing, yes u get some gains but not much with those mods, cta is the one that has given best results, u wont get that much power out of it, and as for fuel milage....yes and no, most of us get a heavy foot right after those mods.

VCT doesn't give you HP it is strictly an EMISSION CONTROL unit.

How come everyone (CEGers) says that the CTA intake is the 'best'. Yet, nobody has any numerical data? Seems like marketing hype, rather than true dyno gains.

Um do you have the money to dyno ($60-$80) after every mod....NO!

Money to dyno? I am unemployed, that's why it would be nice to get cold hard data. Also, shouldn't dyno tests be performed by the manufacturers of the intakes (or other mods, for that matter)? Kinda like puttin' your money where your mouth is.

you must not even know about the intakes available for our cars::: CTA or KKM, CTA is a full intake and is better than KKM, and people have tried them both.
