I was sitting here today thinking about the tour. And I came up with this stupid idea to put a Mach-1 motor int it (cobra motor) with tranny na d conver it to RWD. I was starting to think that this could be posible with some fabrication. I have seriously started thinking about it and was thinking on getting a 95 stick with a ton on miles on it and then tryign to figure out if it could be posible. I was thinking the because cosworth mad a V8 focus street legal, so if my though it more correct we have more room under the hood. Is this a goos Idea or am i just stupid for thinking like that.

What my fellow CRGer's are trying to say is that this has been talked about many times...and is extremly difficult, if not near impossible to accomplish. No one has done it...and no one (from what i can tell) has tried. Its a big pipe dream with no end in sight...my suggestion is to go with the 3.0 liter duratec up grade from the tauras engine.
supercahrge it and put all the fixins and you will be happy.

Hey if they can put a 500HP V8 in a Foucs, then I'm sure they can put it in a Contour.

It can happen, but I don't think anyone on this web board has the time or money to make it happen. There would be so much fabrication/alteration for the rwd conversion that it makes my head spin.

I fear the days of Good ol hot-rodding are dying slowly. The days when you would take a Ford Flattie and find a way, or make a way, to bolt it to a LeSalle tranny. Use Buick drums on Ford spindles, take parts from several manufacturers and cut, weld and fabricate your way to making them work together. What I'm trying to say is that yes it's possible and I don't think you're crazy to think about this. Much fabrication would be required, most likely chassis strengthening of some kind as well. It wouldn't be cheap most likely, but if you think you have the skills and/or the money to do it, go for it. I'd love to see someone try something like this myself, to do some old school rodding to a new school car, if I had the above-mentioned skills and money I'd do it myself, if only to show it to all the poeple who say it can't be done just because they're not willing to truly hot rod their car. A 3L swap is easier yes, but come on, how bas-ass would a ballz out RWD V8 Contour be......

once again with the right amount of money and time anything is possible.
"What did you think about that Dorothy girl?"
"The whole Judy Garland thing kinda turned me on. That doesn't make me some sort of fag does it?
"Nah baby, your money."

I was just pointing him to a recent discussion.
I would agree that just about anything is possible, but not everything is easy.
Maybe the car has to get older before people have the guts, or before they can pick up a salvage car for a few hundred bucks and cut it up.
No one has done it, because no one has done it.
"No pessimist ever reached the moon." (or something like that, from Helen Keller.)
You are not going to get any help, here, though, because, again, no-one has taken it on.
Come on. V-8's in Foci, Viper V-10's in Challengers. That's the stuff dreams are made of. It's just not practical for most people.
