Like I said before: my radiator hose broke and spewed hot coolant all over under the hood. After that it has been missing (one cylynder) on and off again. This occurs mostly under acceleration or a load of any kind. If it was missing at an idle I could find the problem easily.

I put on new spark plug wires and it didn't help.
The ignition (distributor) module seems fine and I cleaned all of the connections on it.

I did notice cracks in the insulation on a few of the wires that lead to the electrical connection on each of the fuel injectors (cylynders #1 & #2.)

Could anyone shed a bit of light on them for me?

I know that there is constant pressure applied to the fuel and there is an electrical pulse that provides the timing for the injectors.

After I moved the wires a bit the missing seemed a bit less. I think. The car only does this about 85% of the time now.

HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS PROBLEM?

There should be no bare wires at the injectors (or anyplace else for that matter). You didn't say what year your car is. There is a recall on underhood wiring on some 95 and 96 models. If I remember correctly it is for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Post your VIN and I'll check OASIS for you to see if your car is involved.

It is a '95 GL with the 4 cyclynder engine.
I'll get the VIN to you later.
The car has 166K on it, so would it still be covered? I think that the radiator fan problem is still available from thew recall they issued.

I've been involved in the pro audio world for 25 years, so I KNOW that bare wires are no good!

I wish I knew the voltage and amperage present on those wires. I'd have to peel the insulation back even further to get a meter on them to measure it!

I am going to put silicon glue over the tiny cracks and see what happens. That should seal the conductor wire where the insulation is cracked.

Unfortunately, there is no other way to deal with the cracked wires other than to replace the entire harness (unless it breaks down into seperate wires which I doubt it does.)
