Hey guys, I know this question has been asked a million times but I could not find it in my search so I apologize for asking again. I'm going to be taking the tour to the track for the first time on Friday. I would like to know if anyone has any advice in order for me to run my fastest times without blowing up my auto trans. Since I am putting a custom trunk next week, the interior of the car will be pretty much stripped except for the front seats.

My list of performance mods are your basic intake/exhaust, plugs and wires. Nothing special

I also have coilovers, should I put them all the way down?

I will be running on stock wheels, the aftermarket wheels are still off for another two weeks.

That's about it. Also please let me know what i should or shouldn't take to the track and if anyone knows what time I should be at Raceway Park in Oldbridge township NJ...I was thinking 6 but I'm not sure if it's earlier
Thanks alot
Neil

Since you have an ATX....the car will do most of the work for you. You seem to be doing all the right things....by making your car lighter...but don't forget to try to have around 1/4 tank or so...this always helps.

Good Luck.

Yes put the coil-overs all the way down. All you really have to do from there is "power brake" it, and then when it blinks the 2ond yellow, let the brake go

what about things like octane boosters....also, I heard power braking breaks transmissions. Would I get the same effect if I just floor it on the second yellow?

Um yeah, you could really mess up your torque converter on the car but if you only reving it up till like 2-2.5 wich would give you a decient launch wouldnt hurt it bad. if any thing it is a bit hard on the brakes. Ahh yes additives. The biggest waste of money on earth, unless your trying to pass emissions. All it does it create a "better burn" which really will take away HP rather then give it more. Also dont use preminum gas unless the car tells you to. 89 octane it good enough and will not detonate on you. Any one who tells you different is on crack. I have seen Dyno results with and with out it. I am going to school currently and going to school to be a mechanic. Any one ever hear of UTI.

true you can mess up your torque converter, but doing it once or twice isn't going to break it; you need that thing to be on the edge of going so you have a nice launch. Try it once flooring it, then do the "power brake" thing the next time, you will see the difference.

Hold the gas and the brake at the same time. The best time to do it is when you're both staged, you should have only seconds before the light turns green.
