What's up guys, I'm running the tour for the first time at Raceway Park in Englishtown, i was wondering if anyone knew what time the street nights event usually starts. Also, is there anything I should know as to what to bring or not to bring. Any advice on getting the fastest time out of an auto v6 without blowing the tranny would be greatly appreciated. If anyone wants to join me there, let me know.

Thanks alot

Neil

I'll be there Saturday for Import vs. Domestic (assuming the weather cooperates). Don't know whan they open on Friday - give them a call (number on the website www.etownraceway.com)

EMPTY THE CAR OF ANYTHING YOU DON'T NEED, including the spare tire and jack, etc. and any loose articles in the cabin. Especially any spare change in the little holder thingy on the dash. Arrive with 1/4 tank of gas. Street tires should be set to street pressures IMO (but others may disagree). I run the rears a bit higher (3 psi extra) for less rolling resistance. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE PUDDLE if you are running treaded tires - they have it set up so you can easily go around and insist you do so on treads.

Gotta rent a helmet (if you don't already have a Snell 95 one) for $3. Go to the souvenier shop to rent, over by the gas pumps.

Other than that, have fun and don't be disappointed if you don't run as fast as you expect. It takes practice, practice, practice to get good times.

You'll get 3 runs for your $20. Return road is on the left; make the first one you can without having to lock the brakes (there are 3, I usually hit the second one). If you are in the right lane, YOU MUST YIELD TO THE LEFT LANE if you happen to be running a slower car in the left lane. Make sure you stop at the shack after you leave the return road for your time slip. There is a scale at the shack on the return road you can use to weigh the car if you like.

Octane boost - don't bother.

GO GO GO on the LAST (third) YELLOW. Not that the lights really matter at a test and tune, but it'll take at least .5 seconds (time from last yellow to green non-foul start) to get 1.5 tons of hulking Contour to move. After your first run, you'll know if you are fast or slow on the light and can adjust accordingly. Now if I could only get that down at e-town (2 fouls in 4 elimination races there).

Well, on a normal session, they give you 3 time runs before elims. With the turnout expected to be at 300 for Saturday, don't expect more than two and only count on one time run, plus elim races. I only got one time run at this event in October.

You're better off running Friday night if you are going for the first time, since you'll get your 3 runs for sure and you won't have to worry about the added stress of competition right off the bat.

They hold 6 of these events during the year IIRC (3 street muffled like Saturday, and 3 open comp).
