I've just purchased a SVT exhaust (Y-pipe to tips -- Thanks Zap!) but all of the nuts and bolts on my 95 'stique 160K (mostly buffalo, ny) are rusted to oblivion. Any tips for getting everything off without a blow torch?

Or

If I could just get the @#$% stud out from the y-pipe to cat flange, I could do something (until spring and 55+ degree weather) when the rest could go on. The pinned bolt set up has me completely stumped. (I broke on of the studs while attempting to remove the cat only - NOT my fault though, it was rusted halfway through Under the Nut!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks people.

The cat studs are designed to be break away, so yes it's not your fault that they broke. (New studs and pins are about 15-20, deaqler only part.) However, whatever you save in labor by not having to fight with frozen nuts on the studs, you lose in getting the pins out. In upstate NY it can be near impossible to get them out! I had about 30-40k on my car and ended up ripping the pin apart. I had to dremel/drill out the pin to get the stud out, which was all in all not! alot of fun.

Good luck, try soaking eveything in WD40 or the penetrating oil of your choice for a good long time.

I had a local muffler shop torch the bolts off from my pipe today so I could put my svt exhaust on. Cost me $5.
