I'm going to repeat part of a post I made under Loss of Power at WOT under secondaries so It get's seen. I recently pushed my car too hard in a corner with very low fuel and sucked some air into the fuel pump. I have had degraded performance at higher RPM with low fuel ever since, and had to replace the pump at 30,000 miles to fix the problem. Just passing along my experience. 2000 Cougar 2.5L
Yeah, I'm on fuel pump #3!! including the original...had the same exact symptoms. I'm told the replacement pumps have a 12,000 mile warranty. That's interesting as both mine went out in about 12,000 mile intervals!
