When I first start my car (98.5 SVT) there is a kind of faint rattling type noise at idle, around 1000 rpms or so. I thought maybe it could be something loose around the exhaust but I'm not sure. It seems to be coming from underneath the engine on the driver's side. This noise just started when I got back from a 600 mile trip. Just before the trip I had a Mobil 1 oil change with Mobil 1 filter. The car has about 75k on it and has had Mobil 1 since 5k or so. Thanks for your ideas.

okay, I'm only replying because I also have a rattle from driver's side, under the engine. Mine though, is likely the throw out bearing, and is audible at idle. Also, it is rhythmic and goes away when I depress the clutch. Hope that helps. But, also I had a rattle about 25K miles ago coming from deep under the engine, and you could hear it at idle, and as it got worse, at particular rpms in particular gears...that turned out to be a new engine(bad bearings).
