I've posted this once but I didn't figure anything out so I'm trying again. My 98.5 contour svt has recently started ticking during acceleration, but only above 3000 rpms. Very recently I've noticed what sounds to be like a whistling sound at the same time the ticking starts. I can't hear it really when I'm under the hood so I think it only does it while in gear, but I could be wrong. Maybe lifters, spent bearing, rods? Please help!

Have you checked your secondaries linkage? I don't think that's it, but since that opens at 3000 RPM.... ??

Yea, I would say that too... there are a few other posts on here that are in refrence to possibly a gear in the IMRC being out of line or something of that nature that is causing the gears to slip when they go to open up and it makes a grinding type of noise. Is that what you are talking about?

yeah, that makes sense, but wouldn't I feel some kind loss of acceleration if the secondaries were malfunctioning?
