So I was just driving down the road today and decided to crank up the Glassjaw on the CD player. The alpine HU was turned up to a volume of 14. Its been there before without problems and then bam! the the sounds shuts off. I reset the HU with a pen that was in my car. Next thing I know it the left front speaker is popping. It was a 6x9 MB Quart speaker that was blown. At least I think it is blown. Getting to the point, I was wondering if you could offer me any advice as to what I should do: talk to MQ Quart to sese if there is any hope there, talk to who I bought the speakers from, if not is there a way to buy just one speaker? And last but not least it looks like I will be investing in an external amp so point me in the right direction. I want quality that's affordable if that's even possible and won't be running a sub. -Thanks, Brian.

Yes, I was using it to run 2 pairs of mb quart components at 2 ohms stereo.

Good News. Talked to the company I bought the speakers from and they will replace then once I send them back with a $29.00 money order to cover shipping and handling. Now to begin researching amps. Joy.

I just got a pair of infinity kappa 6X8's for my girlfriend, and they look absolutley amazing (haven't heard them yet that happens this weekend).
The coolest thing is they handle 100wrms and have faily high sensitivity and come with external crossovers! They are definitally 10x the speaker that my pioneer 6x8's ever were in the quality of construction department, hopefully their sound proves so too.
I let you know how they turn out. I'm almost tempted to buy her a new amp instead of the turd sony amp I was planning on.
don't drink and drive.
