EGR passages are behind the throttle body on the upper intake manifold. Remove the intake accordian, throttle linkage, and throttle body. Once the TB is removed, carefully clean the EGR passages with spray TB or carburetor cleaner and maybe a toothpick if needed. Carbon deposits usually build up and clog the passages over many miles. Takes about an hour, and costs about $4 for a new TB gasket. You may be surprised at how much passage area there is once you get all the gunk cleaned out. If you dont have time for all that, pull the accordian from the TB, open the butterfly by hand and spray the crap out of the black dirty areas behind the TB. Try to get as much dirt out as possible before re-attaching the accordian hose. The car will smoke when some of the loose soot gets pulled into the running engine. Dont forget to re-attach all hoses and electrical connectors.
