The garage I deal with when my cars are out of warranty may be able to help. Feel free to shoot me a pm and I'll give you the details.

9005 is high beam. To make it fit, there are a couple of plastic tabs that need to be filed off. No big deal. I've never tried it, as I'm sure there are some legalities involved...

You simply have to dremel down 3 tabs. Its very easy.

As far as drawbacks, I don't see any. The power draw is only slightly higher, they are properly aimed so I don't blind on-coming traffic, and they look and work great!

I guess I should also point out that I drive a Cougar.

Thanks for the advise Mike. The only concern I had was potentially blindind oncoming traffic. This sounds like a good idea and must give off substantially more light. If this is the case why are these bulbs not made for this purpose in the first place? There must be a reason.

I really don't know why they're not made to fit in the low beams. They're so much better.

I had 2 major worries before doing this:

1) Power. I was worried about the wiring. Then I realized that these bulbs only draw 60W compared to 50W for the 9006.

2) On-coming traffic. I was worried that I would blind everyone. Well, I adjusted my lights, and they're set perfectly. Not a single flash from an on-coming driver.

I figured for $20, it was worth a shot.

If I were you, i'd give it a shot. If you don't like the results, just put the 9006 bulbs back in.

But will it do any harm to your wiring harness? I've heard some stories about them melting and whatnot....

I have only headr this with higher wattage bulbs around the 100W range, I don't think 60W is a problem. IIRC the Silverstar lowbeam replacements are 60W.

I put in Silverstars a few months ago. I notice a big difference. Much better than the candles they replaced
