we have the svt engine out of the car and are ready to start swapping parts, i just have a few questions to clearify before we proceed any further.
1. we are using a 99' 3l block and heads, do we need to replace the water pump with an electric unit? if so, where can we got one other than BAT?
2. also, if we're using the 3L heads do we still need to block off the oil passages?
3. do we need to use the svt valve covers or do we use the 3L valve covers?
other than that i think we have everything we need to finish this project.
thanks

1. Yes
2. NO!
3. 3L VC for the 3L heads
I take it you already know all the other 2.5L parts you have to swap over to make it work and all the extra modifications that needs to be done as well.

Electric waterpumps are pricey...go with the svt heads for heaven's sake that save you 300+ on a waterpump that you cna put towards some headers or true duals. Unless you want the lower compression that is...

thanks guys...as far as the water pump and the heads go, we want the lower compression and the ease of the straight swap. we called bat and they have the pump but not the controller, does anyone know where else we could get this?
thanks

What exactly is the difference between the 3L valve covers and the 2.5L valve covers? I want to know about the newer style 3L valve covers because I'm thinking about getting some 3L heads if I decide to so something more to the car, but I don't want to loose the pretty powdercoated valve covers.

newer ones, nothing is different, bout 2000 and earlier ones don't have a waterpump exit in the valve cover.. Why 3L heads AirKnight??

Not true. The newer ones do not have the mounting points for the IMRC (which doesn't effect 95's) IIRC there is also something else different too.

Newer valve covers are plastic for the 3L's with the waterpump drive on them. Basically if you go with the 3L w/o the waterpump drive you need a set of valve covers too. I've got some for sale and can powder coat them again if you like too.

So the VC for the 3L heads with W/P drive is the same as the 2.5L ones?

No.
They are plastic and have no provision for the IMRC (which does not affect you)
Firewall side???
Are you asking if the 2.5L VC's will fit the newer 3L heads???
