Why a water temp gauge? You already have one.

I bought a set of three gauges (Ammeter, Volts and Oil pressure) last summer and never got around to putting them in. They are mechanical and will work on our cars....you just need to ensure that you have the right connections in the right place. Don't know if I'm going to install them as I'm not sure how comfortable I am with the idea of having pressurized fluid piped into the passenger compartment via the gauges. I agree that you don't need a water temperature gauge unless you're going to pull out the instrument cluster panel and replace the gauge there. Jonnie

I'd like to have a temperature gauge so I can tell the exact temperature I'm getting. N-O-R-M-A-L doesn't really tell me anything, whereas 190-195-200-205-210 would tell me a lot. Assuming that it's accurate, or course. By the way, is there any way to hook up a 95 (OBD-I) to a laptop to monitor all the good info stuff that is going to the PCM? This would be better than a gauge, as far as I'm concerned.

I've a '97 with the newer version OBD and I can do that without any problem, although it's quite impractical to drive around with the laptop on the pass. seat
IIRC You can buy OBD monitors for Palms and stick the Palm to the dash...

The R is about 190 degrees.

Thanks,,,does anyone know what the L would be? My thermostat seems to open on the high side of the R, (so I assume 195-200), but the fan turns on at the high side of the L.
