I guess my earlier posted got deleted somehow. I was just wondering if I should take my 200 duratech atx 30k miles back to the dealer for this faint pinging. I have no CELs and it drives fine. Backgroud: just recently developed this faint rattling sound when puting some throttle while cruising in OD at around 2K-3K on the tach. It goes away when the atx decides to downshift. Engine temp is normal and it is in the 60s here.

I took your advice.. 93 octane, 1 bottle techron fuel system cleaner and clean the MAF sensor (possible over oiling of K&N).

It is till there and it has been a week. I guess no one would notice this sound except me since I have a discerning ear for strange sounds that come from my car.

So should I 1) take it to the dealer and ***** to them about the sound? 2) Wait till a CEL pops up and then go? 3)Wait for it to go away or ignore it?

Try a bottle of Gumout REGANE,
and go back to 87 or 89 octane.

Techtron cleans injectors.
REGANE Cleans injectors, top cylinder, and valves, which removes more carbon than Techtron does.

If the ping is still there it isn't the fuel.
It could be your knock sensor giving an inaccurate reading.

Could be egr or lack of it causing the pinging...
