Don't know if anyone else tried this before, but on my cougar buildup (winter project) I installed MSDS headers, had a machinist friend of mine bore out the IMRC to 38mm and made new butterflies and portmatched to the head, I bought an extrudehoned SVT upper intake, and took a throttle body off of a mid nineties Crown Vic with the 4.6Litre Modular V8. Its a SAME BOLTUP to the SVT manifold but with about a 63 mm bore (same as the SVT? I think, but only $20 at the boneyard vs 275+cables at the dealer) versus the 50mm something of the stock cougar. (must have an SVT manifold as that has the larger Throttle body bore at the mounting point)
Some creative engineering later and I managed to convert the "left side simple action throttle" from the Crowne Vic to the right side operated compound linkage of the cougar (so stock throttle cable can be utilized). If anyone is interested in the TB mods, lemme know and I'll put together some shots for all to see.
NOTE: the TB mods require a mill to make the modifications in a precise enough fashion for it to work. Not for the faint of heart.
