180 MPH in any front wheel drive car would be some scary ass sh*t although I must say that my SVT feels extremely stable in the few times I've reached the buck forty range.

I went 152mph according to my speedometer it took a little over a mile to get there. My svt was very stable at that speed.

Need a place here in socal(S.D.) to run,,i would like to see what my top speed is,,with my new programmed chip,,i can reach 120mph in 4th, with my redline cutout being 7200rpm.So i would say what ever your cutout at redline is in 5th gear is as fast as you can go. I hated that 112mph governor shyt too, but i dont often go that fast but just in case i need(want, there's never a need to go that fast) to,,im not limited to 112mph.

I saw a video of a Firebird on the Salt Flats that started getting some rear lift at near 300mph (stock LT1-type firebird bodywork, obvioulsy not stock drivetrain) he lost traction, the car did a 180, and then the air ripped that hatch open, and lifted the car a good 50 ft in the air, tumbling and turning the whole way. The guy was fine w/ no major injuries, but only because of the excellent safety gear he had in the car.

fwiw, the fastest production 4-cylinder record is held by Rick Byrnes driving a modified Merkur XR4Ti. I don't recall the exact #, but it is over 200mph

*Do not try this at home*
I have driven from PHX to San Diego many many times in the last 4 years. There is a stretch on 8 that is very desolate. I actually had my SVT at 140+MPH for over 30 minutes staight. While it sounds scary, it is actually very stable. After 120MPH or so, there is a strange quietness in the cabin. The only thing that you hear is the whoosh of the air and the pounding of your own heart... Pretty cool. Anyway, there is no telling when aerodynamics will fail you. I doubt 140MPH would cause the loss of control I spoke of earlier, but I am not an expert.

About the Mirko splitter... I am sure that it helps with downforce to some extent, but it is attached to a body-kit that is held on by plastic push-rivits. I doubt very highly that it serves the same purpose that a splitter on a true race car serves. It is more aesthetic that anything.. Again, I am no expert.

There was a guy awhile back who made some under body panels to reduce drag. He said he did 160 with them.

I'm stupid ok...I'll openly admit to it. Though I've only been stupid for ONE day out of the 16 years I've been alive.

The Sport package seems to really help out the up and down motions at high speeds. I've had my Contour SE up to 121, and my mom's Mystique up to the 112 cutoff, and in the Mystique, I thought I was gonna leap off the ground. Scary fun.
