Does anyone know if the 6 speed from the focus SVT would work in the CSVT?

I think its already been discussed. And I dont think it will work. Sorry we are either left with a weak MTX-75 or you could get in touch with Terry Haines for the "Bulldog Box"! Heard good things about this one.

The Focus trans is not as strong so you don't want it. Also the bell housing pattern is different between the Zetec and the Duratec so it would need some modification to make it bolt up to a V6. Then you would need to resolve the shift linkage.

Since it is not strong enough to begin with, it seems that no one has attemped to see exactly what it would take to make it fit.

Who says the MTX-75 is weak? The only thing that's weak in the MTX-75 is the diff, that's about it.

ok cool, I did a quick search and turned up nothing but i figured I would ask. I really would like to find a good 6 speed to put on my SVT. Oh well guess I will just have to stick to the MTX-75

Why? For that bling bling factor

You would effectively be shortening your powerband and require a lot more shifting. Both will slow you down.

The high strung, peaky SVT Focus needs the 6-speed to keep it on a boil (and it's still slow, but that's another story)
The Duratec has a much broader powerband.

The MTX-75 is a very well chosen, close ratio 5-speed. The stock diff is tougher than most people give it credit for, but yes is the only weak link.

Putting in an LSD in a simple fix. Not to mention you could do a clutch, flywheel, LSD, and labor for much less than financing a 6-speed setup just to say you have that "Bling, Bling"

Oh geez dont get me started on these transmissions... The Differential is NOT the only weak things in them... Ive personally never had a problem with the stock diff, but the syncro's in my tranny are pathetic... Guess I need to find a tranny that can keep up with ME...

I think you need to learn to not slam into gears all the time... Most people with MTX-75 don't have synchro problems, with the exception of a few that has 3rd gear synchro problems.

I got my car for wholesale because the slave cylinder and clutch needed to be replaced. Once I had a hybrid clutch and a SHO Shop flywheel (I'll use any excuse to upgrade) popped in by a local shop ( ) I found my 2nd gear syncro was pretty much toast and the third gear syncro is on it's way out.

As Terry recommended, I am going with a +2000 model MTX75, quaife, and a zetec fd (3L soon).

Like many have said OH SO MANY TIMES BEFORE ME.....ford does not do anything unless they have to! SO IMO, the internal changes that took place in 2000 on the MTX75 was totally necessary!

(side thought: To think that I was about to get a FSVT, but didn't because of the lack of factory incentives at the time. I'm SO glad I got my CSVT instead!!!! )
