I got a '98 SE V6 today morning after I started my tour it died. (had hard time starting it first of any way) So I started it again and it started to die again but I keept my foot on gas for about a 1 min. and after that it was ok. Weather was fine not cold, air filter is clean, I had a 1/4 tank of gas. This is like 3rd time it happend help guys. Thanks

When is the last time you had your spark plugs/plug wires checked/replaced? Sounds like maybe you also have an issue w/moisture buildup...

Carbon buildup in the intake? Maybe it was blocking airflow until the engine made enough heat to get some fluidity to it.

Mine does this while I am driving, it just dies then takes a couple minutes to start?

I think I am going to clean out the intake and replace the sparks.

I ran some injector cleaner through my gas and it hasnt died since.

My Contour has started alittle quirk, sometimes, after I start my car and just drive off, I come to a stop a little ways down the road and when I push in the clutch the RPM's drop to about 500 and the car fells like it is going to stall, but then it jumps back up to the normal 900-1000 range... ???????? it has only been doing this for about a month and has done it maybe 6-7 times... Any suggestions? FYI the motor has about 21K on it and the car itself has just over 57K.

A sticking IAC (idle air control) valve can do this. Try cleaning it and the throttle body. In extreme cases you may have to replace the IAC.

My car did exactly that SonOfABoss, until last week when I replaced my IAC. Now it idles at 725 +/- 10 (before it was jumping from 600 - 900). $45 from Bill Jenkins. Big Jim hit it right on the head (as usual).
