I installed my vortech kit and sent my ECM 2 weeks ago and have yet to get it back. I called and spoke with a vortech rep. who said that the cpu codes are more complex for Fords so they have to burn custom chips which take longer. What's up with that! It's been 2 weeks and who know's when they'll figure it out and send it off. Have you guys had the same problem? If so how long did it take before you finally recived your chip? I'm really thinking about get a custom diablo chip if they don't get it together buy the end of the week! This sucks! I've put all this time into installing it right only to have to wait on vortech to even start the car.

Mine came back within a few days Sounds fishy.

I bought my kit from some guy with a 98E0 as well. Vortech told him that you need some frikkin special tool or something to swap it out. That was total BS. He (I guess not being too car savvy) took it to a SuperChips dealer and they removed it. I got it and popped it in. It could not have been easier. I know that there is a bit of board manipulation that you need to do with the later (99-00) models, but it ain't all that hard. They should ask you your code (PCM) and burn it there. They should even be able to email the code to a local SC dealer and they could burn it as you wait! StreetFlight should have a chip out soon, for you. I know because I am the test mule. Contact them at info@streetflight.com and they can let you know where when and how much. You want to be aware of what box code you have and whether you have a return or returnless fuel system. If you have the return system you may be in luck. That is what we tested the chip with.

They tell you to send the computer in and they install a superchip and tape it in with some tape with Vortech plastered all over it. They tell you that your warranty is voided if you remove the chip. This is why they want you to send the whole computer in. It still should only take a few days turn around. They give you the package and airborne express info to send it to them when you buy the kit.

My ECU went from Ontario, Canada to Vortech and back in less than a week. Also, when it turned out that the Autologic chip didn't work with my 98.5 SVT (2 Autologic chips), I complained and they asked me what chips worked. I told them Diablosport and Superchips. From the time I made that phone call, I had a Superchip in my hands in 2 days. Not sure what's going on with your situation though.
