I go to my car today and find it has a dead battery, I get a friends car and head to wal mart and later a part store to get a battery. well needless to say the battery I got was a bit to tall and not as wide as the battery I have. The parts store also said that was the battery and that it was the same for the zetec and the duratec. The numbers in the book are for two different ones. What I can't fiqure is I have a motorcraft battery that the number on it says is for the duratec. Do I have an optional battery or something? I have a 95 Mystique LS zetec, will be going to ford tommorrow but was wondering what the deal is

well when my battery died I put in the duratec battery on my zetec. the only difference is the length of the battery, there was no height difference. It starts a lot better but with my system its hard to charge with the OEM altenator. I use the motorcraft battery, no aftermarket batttery.

I got a cheap battery at Walmart. It has a 3 year warranty with it, and only cost about $35.00

go buy the Ford battery.

It is very difficult to FIND the Zetec batter- trust me, I know. Three local dealers (Metroplex, Texas) didn't have it. It's different.

And they ARE different batteries.

But, while I don't remember how much it cost, it has a four year warranty, and is prorated thereafter... pretty good deal.

I had no problem getting one with higher cold cranking amps then the OEM at the Advance Auto store. they install it also and I guarantee it is significantly less expensive then Ford will be. Now in the car 3 years, no problems
