My check engine light came on last night so I checked with my cheap Actron OBDII scanner and I got a p0153, which is 02 sensor bank 2, sensor 1 slow response. I also got a p1151 and my scanner told me check with manufacturer. So what is this code???? and could they be tied together??????

At least the O2 sensor by the oil filter is easy to replace (compared with one at firewall).

Have you ever replaced the firewall one Doug? I ask because I've gotten 2 codes over the past month or so (P0171 & P0133). I've replaced the easy one you mention in the y-pipe, but still got the P0133 code after that. I'll likely take the upper intake off in the spring again for it's yearly clean - is it easy from there?

Thx.

The one in the y-pipe is the downstream (aka sensor 2) one. For those codes (P0133 and P0171), you need to replace the one in the exhaust manifold on that side, closest to the engine.

Hi Lou,

No, I've only replaced the EGR tube which enters the exhaust manifold about 3" to driver's left from the oxygen sensor, PITA job. I did that on the '97 from below with help holding the top of tube. Some have done sensor from below but best done from above after removing coil pack. I will be doing the sensor on the Mystique come good weather (with exception of brakes I've become a fairweather DIY) and may also tackle UIM clean on '97.

BTW the sensor referred to in above post is upstream bank 2, on exhaust manifold next to rad, points towards oil filter.

Not clear, but you replaced the bank 1 downstream sensor (HO2S12) next to main catalytic? What code?

Your P0171 code probably caused by air/vacuum leak, check your cd. P0133 refers of course to the upstream (firewall)sensor (HO2S11) as noted by PA 3L SVT above.

Regards

p.s. Please call if you want to follow-up on above.
