Hi there guys, just a quick question about pre '98 consoles. The upper black plastic edge of my center console, the single continuous black piece above the HVAC controls that surrounds the HVAC, radio and storage cubby has come loose. There appears to be two clips that secure it in place but when messing around with the black plastic it won't snap in place. Anyone with a recommendation or will I need to rip the entire console apart to fix.
The trim piece that goes around the entire hvac and radio is only held in w/ those metal clips you mentioned. same thing w/ the little black strip between that piece and the actual console. I am in the same boat as you, the clips have broken and i've lost a few of them and i've had to use the radio to hold the trim on tight by securing it to the firewall and pulling it back snug. work really good until you want to pull the radio, then it's a pita to snake your hand back there unsecure it from the firewall...
i snapped mine loose at the top right edge swapping stereos...'f' it i just enjoy the extra bit of light shining out the edge...almost helps me see the dead clock...okay no it doesn't

Thanks for the info guys. From this info I now am considering to do two different things: 1. Buy the clips from Ford as long as they are reasonably priced. 2. Scrounge auto graveyards for the piece I need.
