So, I finally got the stock system replaced. Got a nice Alpine CD player (50X4 Watts) installed...matches the factory illumination nicely. Also, decided to get speakers put in. Here's where it gets interesting...

I just wanted the factory set up...four 6X8s (or 5X7s) in the doors...plenty for me. The guy shows me the Pioneers ($90/pr.) and the Alpines ($159/pr.). Alpines sounded awesome, but a little pricey. I ask him about the package deal...deck and speakers installed. If I buy the package, it will drop the price of the Pioneers down to $70/pr, and the Alpines down to $130/pr. Couldn't justify the extra $120, so I went with the Pioneers. Paid a total of $382.00 for both the deck and the speakers installed.

Took a while for the install, but I head outside to take a peek toward the end. I see Alpine boxes on the floor! There must have been a miscommunication, because the install guys put the Alpines in! How happy was I? I kept my mouth shut, and drove off. System sounds Grrrrrrreeeattttt! I priced the same system at Car Toys...installed, it would have been close to, if not over, $600!! And I got it for $382.00 installed!! There are times when life is very good to you, my friends!! ?The sad thing is, the most likely still made money on the deal...but I am not complaining one bit!

I would imagine just the labor charges you paid for install nearly covered their cost on the equipment. Bulk purchasing cuts those costs soooo much...

Believe it or not, the install cost on both the head unit and speakers...drum roll...$2.00. Not too bad! Apparently, Mobile One got bought out by Audio Express, and in order for them to pick up the business, they had to do something. So, they started doing $1.00 installs on most everything they sell, for MOST every application.

This has been one of the few times I have had something on a vehicle qualify for the "special"...I could get used to that! Usually, that kinda crap only applies to like a Yugo or something...

well, I stand corrected, and pat you on the back for a shopping job well done...If I could do that, my wife would shed tears of joy...then claim she taught me everything.
Now go turn it up!
