Firstly excuse my ignorance if the answer to this is on these pages somewhere.
I have a MK1 Mondeo with the vacuum actautor type secondaries,i don't know if they are working correctly. If irev the engine above 4000RPM the actuator only moves slightly(I have cleaned the intakes and there are no vacuum leakes as the actuator moves when starting the engine but doesn't seem to "Snap" the secondaries open when reving).I have attached a light bulb in place of the solonoid and have found the light comes on when switching the engine on but will only go off briefly when reving on FULL throttle-i thought the light would go off at approx 3500RPM even if reving gently above this.My question is laugh o the secondaries only operate on full throttle??Does anyone know what the voltage SHOULD be doing??
Finally,is it possiblt to "Crack" the secondaris on this type of system??If yes how do you do it??
Any help soon much appreciated. confused confused

Dave:
When playing with your secondaries, and opening the throttle only partially/gradually, the secondaries won't open at 3500 RPM. They open that low when the throttle is open by a larger margin (ie aggressive driving). If you are only snapping the throttle up to 4000 RPM or so, then letting off, its normal for it to just open partially. You have to keep it spooling up longer to give them a chance to open fully (ie under load, while driving).

As for cracking your secondaries, you should find, on the lower intake manifold, a stopper adjustment screwfor the intake runners on the transmission side, alongside the linkage. You can turn it inso that the runners, when closed, will be left partially open.
I must inform you, before you do this, its a hit or miss mod. Some have had positive results from it,while others, like myself, actually hurt performance by doing this.

Thanks guys,so it looks like my secondaries are o.k.Am i right in thinking the actautor on the later cars with the IMRC motor responds quicker and this is why you can see the actuator moving on these cars when reving the engine at stanstill under the bonnet(hood)??
Going to give cracking the secondaries a go i think and see what happens!..... laugh
