Moved here from Vegas and need to get my car smogged. 2000 CSVT w/36.5k miles, and is stock with the exception of a KKM intake and filter. Have heard some of the horror stories associated with passing smog with the KKM installed; also seem to remember reading in the forums about someone who's car was similarly equipped and he had a place to take it where it would pass. If anyone knows of such a place in SoCal, please contact me directly at hemlock54@hotmail.com. I only have about 3 days to get this done, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

If you don't pass with just a KKM, you have problem with your car. All you really need to pass is your main cat and no CEL's.

The car may pass at the sniffer, but it will not pass visual with an open air filter. You have to put the stock air box back on to pass the visual portion of the test.

Thats why I kept the factory airbox. In my area they all do a visual and mine wont pass when they open the hood.

I've never had a smog place do a visual on any car I've owned. Maybe I've just been lucky?

I got "failed" for my KKM when I moved here - they let me go home and swap in the stock airbox so I didn't have to pay twice though.

All I can say is that I have a SC'd SVT with an open air filter. I passed with no problem. If you send me a PM or email I will tell you who to see.

That is because the supercharger kit (wich includes an open filter) has a CARB number for it.
In CA's great wisdom it doesn't matter if a part (like an open element filter) really does anything to hurt emmissions, you still have to have the smog police certify it ($$$).
