Hi all, I'm having a problem with my turn signal; turn signal operates correctly (left & right), however, the relay clicks constantly two-three times as fast as when turning when in the center position. I tried replacing the relay, no change. I removed the turn signal assembly, took it apart and cleaned it up-went back together okay but no closer to a solution. Point of interest, I changed the headlamp bulbs (Phillips bluelight) just before this problem arose, and have since changed them back-still have the problem! I would appreciate if any of you have an idea what could be the problem could be, AND how to solve it.
P.S. I thought of replacing the switch assembly, but at a cost of $250 CDN, it seems an overly expensive experiment!

well, its supposed to blink 2/3 times as fast if theres a problem with the resistance somewhere in the turn signal cicuit, to let you know that one of the bulbs is out. if you've checked both turn signal lights, front and back, i would start checking the wiring.
now officially a troll, i guess. used to have a black 96 SE, until it broke down one too many times.
now I'm hunting for a motorycle.

If I understand correctly you hear the flasher clicking when the turn signals are off. I have seen this a couple of times, and both times it was the switch. Others have also posted that they have had this problem and it turned out to be the switch. One of them posted that he solved his problem with a wrecking yard used switch for a lot less than the new switch.

I have experienced this a few times, when my back light went out, when a fuse went out, and when I was installing my side markers. Check the bulps, and then fuse, then check wiring.

I am having the same problem. I am getting around it temporarily by taking out the relay when I don't need my turn signal. I slip the relay back in when I need to use the turn signal. This works well for remaining sane on long trips and highway driving. I have also read on here that the entire switch needs to be replaced. I have not gotten around to it. Hope that little bit helps. Please let me know if you find a solution.

I hear the synthetic blinker fluid is the best... And don't even mess with the analog stuff, digital fluid all the way!

Yeah, I checked in the Haynes Manual. Only the Mondeo in England has a Blinker Fluid Resovior (same as the Sierra which the Mondeo replaced)so no need to worry with that. I'll have a look at the other bulbs in the back as Drajen suggests, thanks for the advice. Booked into Wards Auto Electrics for tommorrow AM! Thanks all for your response.......even the humourous stuff!LOL

Well I took the 'Stique into the electric shop this morning and they cocnluded that it was the multi-function switch that needed replaced at a cost of $249 CDN! (they only charged me $20CDN for the diagnosis-cheap) and the nearest one was in Edmonton, Alberta!! The tech did mention to me that the problem in the switch is the hazard lamp switch which was some how sending a current through the relay-hence the clicking. He said after pressing the hazard switch on and off a few times the clicking went away.....but it came back again. I took the switch off of the vehicle and disassembled it, cleaned up the terminals and put it all back together again. Verdict is a bit better, only get occasional click once in a while So I will need a new switch eventually, local Lordco can bring one in in 4-6 weeks for $100 (Delco part), but I can now stay relatively sain AND use my turn signals until I get my new switch
