How do you actually realign the doors? Mine doesn't open and shut as smoothly as new anymore. By that, I don't mean it's hard to swing but the hindge seems to be sticky. Anyone know how do I realign them to make them work like a champ again?

HI,

Check your hinges first...most likely problem, Open the door a few inches and reach down and pick up on the door. If it rocks up an inch or so, your hinges are worn and causing the "alignment problem". I think the hinge pins and bushings are easily replaced on our cars just looking at them, however I haven't done it.

I think I'm refering to the wrong part. I mean where the lock hooks to that hoop thing, that's not really on right. I opened and closed a '96 SE today, and the doors were really smooth. I have to slam my doors to get the close, and have to pull pretty hard to open them.

If the door sits right (even gap all around) then adjust the strike (fixed part on door frame that the latch latches to). Look at the strike first for rub marks to see if it's being hit on the top or bottom. Then loosen the screws and tap it into position until it doesn't rub in the slot on the door latch. If you slide the strike in towards the car a little the door will shut tighter and have less wind noise.
